Long time no post

I haven’t posted in a while and I feel very slack and unorganised but I have had a big change in my life recently and I have been flat out lately.

I have recently started a full time job in an environment that I never thought I would venture too. Although I am not dealing with the hands on of the counselling being the outside person you still hear all the difficulties no person should ever be put through. It has been a big strain in my life having a full time job, previously I just worked casual for the Department of Education and I felt like they were running me into the ground. I was always busy, always learning and pushing myself to new limits.

Anyway, I just wanted to say I am still hear and I haven’t forgotten about my commitments I have just had a lot on my agenda recently and I needed to sort my personal life out before starting anything new.

So please forgive me!

I will be posting a brand new beauty post this week a hair tutorial. I did my mums hair the other day when she was feeling down and I want to share with you how easy it was when you are having a bad hair day.

DIY Home Facials

Skin is an important asset for a woman, so having it look fabulous all the time can sometimes be time consuming and make a hole in your pockets. Splurging yourself on facials can be a once in a blue moon leisure. However, I have a few DIY facials you can find in your fridge, pantry or local supermarket, and without spending a fortune and still feel amazing all in the comfort of your own home.

Exfoliate: 1 tsp honey and 1 tsp olive oil. Separately  prepare some oats, using less water then called for, place bowl of oats in microwave for 1 to 2 minutes so it forms a thick paste. Next, add the honey and olive oil mixture to the cooked oats. Apply as a scrub, gently rubbing it in small circles over your skin, avoiding the eye area. Rinse off with warm water and pat dry and then moisturize. This mask can be done more then once a week as it won't dry out your skin. The oats act as a scrub exfoliating the skin, while the honey and olive oil give moisture back to your skin.

Cleanse: 1 tbsp plain Greek Yoghurt with 2 tsp olive oil and 1/2 tsp lemon oil (not to be confused with lemon juice; lemon oil is an essential oil that can be found in health food stores). The mixture should have a runny consistency but not easily poured out. Massage it over the skin, then immediately wipe it off with a warm washcloth. This facial can tend to be very sticky so it's wise to take it off in the shower and use a face washer to clean it off. You can do this cleanse once a day if you have acne prone skin just remember to clean it off otherwise the oil will build up and cause you more bad then good.

For Oil and Blemish Prone Skin

Lift & Tighten: Combine 2 tbsp Plain yoghurt with 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice and apply to your cleansed face and neck. Let it dry for 20 to 30 minutes. You'll feel the mask tighten on your face and neck, which creates a lifting and firming effect. Leave it on longer, up to an hour, for even more face-lifting effects. Once done, rinse in warm water followed by a cool rinse then moisturize. This mask can be done 2 or 3 times a week or whenever suits your busy schedule. It will help to reduce age-spots, acne scars and even helps keep blemishes and acne in check, it can also help with uneven skin tone.

Blackheads: Combine 2 tbsp of bi-carb soda with 1 tbsp of water (or lemon juice) mix until it forms a thick paste. Then apply to your cleansed face, to the 'T' area of your face. Leave on for 30 seconds then remove with a warm washer. Cleanse again to wash away any bacteria or left over bi-carb soda, then moisturize. I recommend only doing this one once a week if your skin is really bad. Doing this one too many times can dry out your skin and cause even bigger blackheads. However, if this works for you, your skin will feel soft and your blackheads should disappear.

For Dry Skin

Soothe: combine 2 tbsp honey with 1 tbsp of lemon juice. Apply to your clean face and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water then a rush of cool water. This facial can be done three times a week. It will heel, moisturize and balance the pH of the skin.

For the Eyes

Tone: this eye treatment helps to de-puff, relax, refresh and energize your skin. It's much more cooling then the traditional cucumber slices. Once you have cleansed your skin, brew a cup of chamomile or green tea and allow it to cool. Then soak two clean, round makeup sponges in the tea and squeeze out and excess liquid. Place on each of your eyes for 15 minutes. Do this daily, its recommend you do this in the morning, you are going to see much more of a difference. Use an alcohol free toner on your skin to cleanse and tighten the pores.

There are different facials for different skin types and not all will work on everyone's skin, but I recommend trying different ones until you find the one that works for you. Remember it is always important to moisturize face and neck. Try these amazing facials and let me know which one you really love.

Five Natural Hair Remedies From Your Kitchen

Unfortunately hair loss is a common problem nowadays. This can be caused via internal or external factors. I have been a hairdresser for over 28 years I have learnt there are many expensive hair products that do work, but many also do nothing for your hair condition. What I have found is five natural inexpensive remedies that do make a difference to the condition and thickness of your hair.
Some of the internal causes of hair loss are excessive physical or emotional stress, hormonal imbalances, nutritional deficiencies, heredity and allergies. Some of the common external causes are use of wrong hair care products, poor hair care routine, pollution, over use of styling equipment (blow dryers and straightening irons are the worse culprits) and so on.
Our hair is as an asset that can make or break how we are feeling about ourselves. Many a bad hair day has made me grumpy in the morning.
Below are my five natural ways to improve hair thickness; that can be done easily at home.
EGGS

Regular protein treatment is essential to enjoy stronger and thicker hair. For a natural protein hair treatment the best ingredient to use is egg. Take one or two eggs according to the length of your hair and beat it properly. Now apply this egg on to your wet hair and allow it for sit for five to ten minutes. Finally wash your hair with lukewarm water and your favourite shampoo. Another option is to mix together one egg with one tablespoon of olive oil and two tablespoon of water properly. Use this mixture on the lengths of your hair only if you are prone to oily hair, if not massage your scalp thoroughly with the mixture as well, and leave on for at least five to ten minutes. I have been known to leave mine on for an hour or so if my hair is feeling really damaged. Just remember to give two really good shampoos and condition as normal after.
Olive Oil

Olive oil can also soften and strengthen your hair. Massaging the scalp for about half an hour with olive oil before going to bath is a good option to get thicker hair naturally. Just make sure you rinse away the oil from your hair thoroughly by using a mild shampoo. For better result you can apply olive oil into your hair before going to bed and wash your hair next morning. Dirty hair day solved, slick back with olive oil into a bun. Another option is to mix olive oil with some honey and then apply the mixture on your hair, leave for half an hour and finally wash your hair.
Coconut Oil

Has so many amazing uses including for your scalp and hair. Massaging your scalp regularly with pure coconut oil is one of the easiest ways to get thicker hair naturally. For better result, it is recommended to heat the coconut oil and then only use it to massage your head and scalp. Always use your finger tips to massage the scalp in circular motions. This will help to improve the blood circulation which is essential to promote hair growth. Once you have applied the oil, cover your hair with a towel moistened with warm water. Leave for half an hour and then shampoo your hair as usual. Follow this remedy once a week to enjoy lustrous and thick hair.
Aloe Vera

Another popular ingredient to aid in ticker hair is aloe vera. Extract the gel from one or two aloe vera leaves and rub the gel onto the scalp and allow it to sit for half an hour before rinsing your hair with lukewarm water. Another option is to mix the aloe vera gel with one egg and some brandy. Apply this mixture to your scalp and after ten to fifteen minutes shampoo your hair. Follow this remedy once a week to enjoy thicker and healthy hair. At the same time you can also consume one tablespoon of aloe vera juice daily on an empty stomach to enjoy better hair growth
Orange Juice

Orange can be used to get rid of dandruff and oily scalp and to enjoy thicker hair. Dandruff and unhealthy scalp can be a major cause of hair loss. Take orange peel and mash it to make a pulp. Use this pulp as a hair pack once in a week to promote hair growth. Another option is to mix equal amount of orange juice and apple puree together and then apply this mixture on your hair. After half an hour wash your hair with plain water. Follow this remedy once in a week and soon you will have longer and thicker hair.
So there you have it, five easy, inexpensive and natural remedies to promote thicker hair. Now go raid that kitchen and let me know how you went and which your favourite was.
